Hi everybody! 👋

I just moved here from @aperezdc looking for a cozier instance, which I should have done earlier... So let's make this an

post.

People call me Adrian, and I'm living in Finland, which is quite different from the South of Europe where I've been born. I've been into

since 1998, my first Linux install was SuSE 5.3 (Boxed! With dead tree manuals!) and life hasn't been the same since. These days I mostly work on @WPEWebKit and a bit on @WebKitGTK for @igalia, and maintain their Buildroot packaging.

On the

front, I used to have a Sony HB-75P but it ended up being discarded (long story) and after two decades without one I finally decided to get a Panasonic FS-A1WSX MSX2+ which has given me plenty of warm fuzzy feelings. I also enjoy doing small pixel art thingies like my doge avatar, mostly with , but it takes me a lot of time and I am not very good at it. Some day I hope to have an 1200 as well.

Pretty jealous of your MSX2+, would love one of those... That and an Atari STe are the two old machines I'd quite like but don't currently have

Atari ST machines don't seem to go for such ludicrous prices as Amiga boxes. I've seen them e.g. in Amibay sold in good condition for a couple hundred quid. A quick search and I've just seen this one: amibay.com/threads/atari-compu — I hope manage to get your Atari fix some day. And that I find an Amiga that won't break the piggy bank :blobmoustache:

prices aren't the worst, but I can't really justify >£100 really, which is tricky :) Tbh, the Amstrad Plus takes up enough of my time already and my heart is with the 8-bit machines more than anything, so maybe it's for the best...

The Atari interests me as a music production machine, I could just get a cheap FM machine but there's something about machines with seldom-used extensions that floats my boat I guess!

so, er... I now have an Atari STe... I got it for a great price - £64 and it came with the b/w monitor and upgraded 1MB RAM. It was serviced in 2003 according to stickers, everything worked great. It was absolutely filthy, but clean inside.

I've since spent far too much money upgrading/improving it (4MB RAM, dual TOS and a new PSU on the way) - it's pretty much everything I hoped it would be, it's fun finding out which of the games I played as a kid were actually good :)

I've got Cubase 3.1 working nicely and hooked it up to my keyboard and a Roland SC-55mk2 - looking forward to making some music with it :D

I keep forgetting Cubase started on the ST, that's so cool!
