Here's the draft of an abstract for a colloquium talk I'm giving at Indiana next month. Suggestions for what I should call this talk? I was thinking "It's all just interpreters!" or "Interpreters everywhere!", and then @ganshen suggested "Interpreters: the ultimate abstraction" -- am I audacious enough to call it that?
(Feedback welcome on other aspects of it, too!)
I think it's a fine line between humble and brag with this topic -- on the one hand, I want to convey the humility and awe I feel that a bunch of stuff I do boils down to this one simple idea, but if I play it wrong, it could come across as "look how fundamental my work is!", which is absolutely not what I want to say!
