Corporate greed, companies always looking for ways to keep raking in the cash. Oh you need nav in your car, no, I have maps or a partner with a phone. Oh you need satellite radio, no, basic radio or ancient ipod from years ago will do.

Nothing new here. IBM did the same thing with their System 36 (and maybe 38?) back in the '80s. For many thousands of dollars they would remove a jumper and give you more speed.

The only way that this would be good is if the purchase of more power entailed more liability for damage and injury. But that's not going to happen in this world.

My dream is to start a car company selling the simplest fucking EV on the planet.

Battery, motor, power controllers, AC and that's it. Even the fucking windows should be manual.

No telemetry, no internet, no spyware, no bullshit. Repairable and hackable.

I can't be the only one that wants something like that.
