One thing I don't want from the current situation in the US is to go back to the way things were before the orange guy. This is a great time to examine and fix the shortcomings that led to what's happening. For example, it's time for us to have more viable political parties. Clearly, having only two doesn't work.

Definitely. We have a lot of work to do. And this country won't get better looking back instead of forward.

you will only get beyond two political parties if you get beyond the binary electoral system of first past the post. If you get to proportional representation, you will find you suddenly have a variety of parties as is already the case in most European countries.

The US definitely needs to learn from other countries. Or even from its own states. Alaska has ranked choice voting which is a step toward what you described, I think.
