I see a lot of people use the word platform to describe Mastodon. I feel like your term of ecosystem is better fitting.

Are y'all planning to move to another instance at any point? I'm seeing a lot of them saying they'll be defederating from mastodon.social soon.

The Web 2.0 takeover by centralized corporate services have severely stunted people's horizons to the point that things like the fediverse are now fundamentally foreign concepts.
