@lavndrblue @lindyli gerrymandering doesn’t effect a governor’s race. More likely voter suppression does, but in 2022 the effort to turn out voters for Beto was immense, as was the available info about Abbott’s policies. The majority of Texans voted for him.
I’ve heard this argument before but I would really like an explanation on how this argument holds water when looking at a statewide election where raw vote totals count unless TX does something super weird with this race.

gerrymandering is drawing lines that encompass a certain electorate into a region, which matter in House races, and many state legislature races. It has no affect on statewide races, by definition.

granted the real answer is “voter suppression” but hearing people say “gerrymander” is frustrating to explain abbott and his death eaters (uncomfortable reference deliberate)
