Gentle Birth, Ekphrastic of Gentle Tarot
To those whose mothers
did not teach them feminine power:
dive back into the womb.
Come nude:
merge with the fishes and the
eldest mother’s shifting hues
of tangerine, legume, and azul.
She will take your shame with cold, gentle currents.
She will take your hatred and shapeshift it into bubbles.
She will wash your hair with long, soft, fingers.
She will wipe away all the tears until
your consciousness is transparent.
She will tell you “you are my daughter;
therefore, you are beautiful.”
Then she will gently push you from the womb
and rebirth you in golden aura.
As your feet stride on sun-risen waters,
sparrows flitter on your open palms and shoulders
and you are at home within yourself.
Now it is time. Heal the earth.
