Switching to Mastodon, and looking to see who is here!

People are slowly filtering in, I'd say only about a quarter of my follows on here are people I know from the bird site

Interestingly many of my birdsite communities have some representation here especially with all the open source geo people jumping over in the past few days. The most conspicuous gap is local Oakland/SF bicycle people, and really locals in general. Gem’s mutuals are Oakland people, basketball people, and horticulture people. They’re absent here so far.

@migurski @timoreilly tagging @graue as an SF bike person and for interest. scott was also talking about gap in SF local folks on instances, though there is an SF bay instance that I think some people are joining (sfba.social, I think)

I had a box of cables in my garage that I didn't throw away, and a box of carefully stored old technical books for previous versions of software, that I didn't throw away either.

I eventually realized that I love those software books, because of the magical time in my life when new worlds of technical possibility opened up for me. The cables were similar.

I eventually threw away the cables, but I kept the books. ♥️

I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you Tim!
