I'm not seeing much comment on it in my feed so...
Today, hundreds of trans people and allies turned up to lobby Parliament in an event organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance about the horrible situation in which trans peeps find ourselves in the UK.
I couldn't make it, because I live nearly 300 miles away, I got autistic demand avoidance from not being able to find out how it would all work, and my MH would have made it too difficult. Still...
Parliament couldn't cope. They were overwhelmed despite having had notice of the numbers and some folks had to wait for hours to get in. It's been suggested that the authorities expected only a few to turn up, as happens when the transphobes do their thing.
Anyway, it seems to have been a huge success. Thanks to the organisers, thanks to those who went, and let's all hope that MPs listen and end this Starmer-led horror show that has many trans folk including me wanting to leave the country.
somehow I missed this but I am working on a response to the enquiry with my employer. I have a feeling they will ignore these responses though.
NGL, I hope the people who came down to parliament used the loos.
I expect the ladies would not be comfortable with trans men in their loos and the men would feel weird about trans women in their loos but this is what they are asking for and they nay-say gender neutral loos too...
It's nice to see that so many people turned up. Going down to London is not cheap!
@LevelUp @grayface_ghost The so called consultation process is not in good faith, because nothing the transphobic EHRC does is in good faith. But the GLP challenges are having an effect: the EHRC has conceded on mandatory single sex toilets, and their lawyers have conceded right of privacy applies to trans people using public spaces. This effectively means their "guidance" is a smoking ruin, but of course commercial media is not reporting this.
@SecondUniverse @grayface_ghost we know but we can't stay quiet or lie down and accept this quietly.
Yes, the main stream media is transphobic and we know this too. Its been this way for a long time they always reduce the issue of trans rights to a "row". They belittle it.
We have to do what we can to fight our corner or accept that other people think we should not exist at all (including in public spaces). They nay-say neutral toilets and so heaven forbid someone is incontinent and needs to go to the loo like every other human being.
It's so sad to see what the EHRC has become. :(
