My tinkering enters the sanctuary: our cleaning person accidentally broke a glass chimney for one of the altar candles; turns out it’s a size that’s not manufactured and would need to be custom. New candlesticks are prohibitively expensive. But thank the Lord for hardware standards because I figured out that I could cannibalize parts from unused processional torches (which have glass chimneys) to make renewed altar candles! Just need some polishing.
