Next week (8–13 September), Dr Curtis Runstedler AFHEA, our post doc at IRIS, will travel to Karachi, Pakistan, to give two invited lectures at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA).
For IRIS, his first lecture takes a critical posthuman feminist perspective on the commodification of sex robots and artificial intimacy in contemporary speculative fiction. He will discuss works such as Jeanette Winterson’s Frankissstein, Paolo Bacigalupi’s Mika Model, and Sierra Greer’s Annie Bot.
This lecture draws on a new journal article he co-authored with Dr. Sercan Hamza Bağlama (Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi), which is currently under review.
We are excited to see Dr. Runstedler represent IRIS in Karachi and to contribute to international conversations on literature, technology, and ethics.
