Turn off session timeout and use virtual consoles to keep yourself logged in as root somewhere.
My shell aliases still include:

I strongly disagree with the STIG advice. DISA has Ansible runbooks and future you is going to visit and insist that you build it with the security profile because some of those requirements can't be retrofitted.
