I'd like to see such a project. When doing the carpooling manually I did it to see exactly the steps. Almost everything can be done by an app. I'm planning to implement something like that. Including more public transit, e.g. with the ticket 'Quer durchs Land' - Through all the country. It costs 46€ for 1 person, 55€ for 2, 64 for 3. If anybody is interested in joining the effort, I'd like to talk :-)
