People, I once again beg you to please have some purity testing on the left.

Our lack of purity testing gave us ultraconservatives like Starmer running Labour in the UK, and Landlord Jagmeet Singh's Rolex watches. Without purity testing, we will keep losing to the right.

Remember that the people who are telling you purity tests are bad are the people who plan to make money/power from its absence. Don't trust them. They're already the reason we lose everything.

I wonder if we have different meanings of purity tests? When I think of them I hear, “Deborah Mannekin bought a product from [company we were supposed to boycott over the genocide]! Therefore we should not give them any space to talk about prison abolition in the us anymore.”

Would 'bottom line standard' be better, because while people complain about 'purity tests' such as your example, the general animus against either is that its too exclusive and exclusionary against a larger popular mass that seemingly requires the mass to congregate around 'you're fine as you're are and we aren't going to do anything too upsetting to you as you are' which is...not Leftist?

@ciggysmokebringer @PatrickoftheG yes I like that better. We need a bare acceptable minimum for sure

When we get mocked for "purity tests" while we're saying shit like GENOCIDE IS BAD, we're basically being told to adopt complete moral relativism and entirely give up on the idea that there's any bottom floor or hard line to be drawn anywhere. Anything is forgivable, everything is negotiable, excuses can be made for anything from torture to mass murder and only unrealistic, silly, childish idealists don't want to accept that some constant level of abuse and war crimes is just an unavoidable part of existence.

It's fascist logic with a pretty rationalized liberal bow on top.
