I’m a long time listener of the podcast “Behind The Bastards”, which is obviously a one-off in terms of genre because all the ads that play are for true crime podcasts that I’d never listen to. But the show is about bad people both alive and from history.
They recently did 2 episodes on Frank Fay, who invented stand-up comedy (or helped develop it). Abusive, fascist jerk, etc.
One piece of trivia that stuck out was that his problematic relationship with Barbara Stanwyck is apparently the real life inspiration for “A Star is Born” (which is a movie that’s been remade so many times and I don’t get why).
