Why are plankton ecologists *so excited about the launch of PACE ? Because: Plankton Aerosol Cloud Ecosystem. It is a giant step forward for id because the new Ocean Color Instrument (OCI) is , meaning it can image ultraviolet to visible & visible to near-infrared at 5nm resolution 
! Big news because previous satellites only saw a few colors. OCI can now identify algae pigments!
