The Internet does not disappoint. Random curiosity left me wondering about the origin of the tunnel painted on the wall gag.

It was the first Warner Bros. Looney Tunes cartoon to feature Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, Fast and Furry-ous, released September 17, 1949.

Now you know.

Shout out to musical direction by the great Carl Stalling.

Meep, meep!

Now I’m wondering where they got the title from? Fast and the Furious wasn’t made until almost 50 years after!

please post back when you have found the answer. Enquiring minds want to know!

I took this photo in Prague last March in the Strahov Monastery library. Tromp l’oiel tunnel continues beyond the end of the hallway. Alt text: renaissance style painted wall mural with two views, a distance perspective down hallway and up close view that shows the “trick.”
