We are aware of the ongoing issues with our exporter and are actively looking for solutions. The program we use to copy the files (rclone) has difficulties syncing buckets that are modified at a high frequency. We have tried to address this by using versioned objects, but that creates a different problem which we believe is due to S3 noncompliance on our provider's end. We've notified their staff and will continue to look for a solution. Apologies for the delay.

Update: We have found a solution, exports should work reliably now.

The upcoming Mastodon 4.2 will feature much improved full-text search, but this requires ElasticSearch, which we do not provide. ElasticSearch is quite heavyweight and would need to be a paid addon. We are proposing an alternative solution: Using the search capabilities in PostgreSQL to provide an alternative to ElasticSearch.

We have submitted a proposal (https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/26645) and aim to drive development of this feature in accord with the Mastodon core team.
