This afternoon, I need to set up a Windows computer for the first time in years. It’s for one of my kids. I can’t procrastinate any longer … ugh

oh, btw: I don’t particularly like any current operating systems these days! I’m just a lot more familiar with desktop linux and macos

But… DEAR GOD you can’t change the scroll direction of the mouse wheel in Windows 11 without faffing with the registry

and you can’t even get past the default of requiring a Microsoft login without escaping to a command prompt (shift-f10) in the install/setup and issuing an arcane command OOBE\BYPASSNRO

etc etc etc

I was expecting this kind of thing but hoping I was wrong. What a self-parody!
